My Thrift Haul & Poshmark

Listening now…

(Anyone else watching The End of the F***ing World on Netflix?! This song is courtesy of that show. So good- especially if you loved Atypical, like I did.)

I wanted to write this post for those who may not have thrifted yet and may not realize the amazing finds you can get, while paying way less than you would at a retail store!

I started thrifting around age 18 and haven’t stopped since…

I actually prefer thrifting to shopping in the mall because I find it more fun and satisfying when you find something really unique and when you find something of a brand you know is expensive that you bought for like $5.

J Crew French Hen sweater:

This item was listed on my Poshmark account- (that’s here by the way) and sold within about 2 weeks. It’s so cute and soft, I was considering keeping it for myself.

White Mountain booties:

Channeling my inner Angela Chase obsession again, these reminded me of her….so obviously in the cart and home they went. (Thanks to my love for gifting me with these Adidas leggings for Christmas)

Banana Republic “Keep It Simple” Sweater:

We could all use this little reminder for life, right?

Asos Brocade & Leather Jacket:

Mango Suit Collection Utility Jacket:

I had never heard of this brand, but when I looked it up, found that they sell pretty well on Poshmark.

I have been wanting a Utility Jacket for awhile and this one is perfect. It has tons of pockets and is really warm. The inside of it can also be unbuttoned and worn as a vest! Great for traveling.

I also really love the small leather strips on the shoulders.

Never mind my crazy hair…

Do you go thrifting? Do you thrift and Posh or Ebay? P.S. I have an Ebay account, too- that’s here.

I am really excited to get better at selling on both- I have been listing all of my items on both accounts so that if it does not sell on one, it may sell on the other. I had a pair of Lularoe leggings listed on both that someone eventually bid on on Ebay, so I took it off Poshmark since a bid means the item is sold- listing on both is more work, but it increases your chances of making money and reaching an audience!

Thanks for reading & happy thrifting!

Spring Fashion Inspiration with Warby Parker

Listening now…

Smart Doggo in his Warby Frames.

For my Spring Fashion Inspiration this year (Check out last years post here) , I am blessed enough to be able to partner with Warby Parker in bringing forward their Spring 2018 collection of eyeglasses. You can find their new collection- here.

I put together a series of Spring outfit looks that are definitely diverse, just to show that you really can find any frame to go with your look of the day. The collection is very versatile and I am even more convinced I need a pair of the non prescription frames after working with them in this post!

FYI- Warby Parker is so unique that they offer both prescription and non prescription eyeglass frames, as well as sunglasses.

Something I found endearing about this brand was their history and how they started, found from their website:

Every idea starts with a problem. Ours was simple: glasses are too expensive. We were students when one of us lost his glasses on a backpacking trip. The cost of replacing them was so high that he spent the first semester of grad school without them, squinting and complaining. (We don’t recommend this.)
The rest of us had similar experiences, and we were amazed at how hard it was to find a pair of great frames that didn’t leave our wallets bare. Where were the options?
We started Warby Parker to create an alternative.

Even better is that for every pair purchased, they donate a pair to those in need.

Over 3 million pairs of glasses have been distributed since the program started. So you can feel even better about your purchase, too!

For each Spring outfit below, I will pair it with a frame at the end!

# 1: Preppy Retro Inspiration:

[This look: Flared Express Jeans, thrifted: vintage Tommy Hilfiger sweater & Alligator bag]

# 2: Modern Angela Chase Inspiration:

You have watched My So Called Life, right?!
[This look: LL Bean Corduroy/Plaid Interior long sleeve, American Apparel crop top, TJ Maxx Pleather Embroidered skirt, High Top Vans]
For those days when it’s not quite “spring” yet….i.e., most spring days on the mountain top.

Which Warby would we pair with this look?

# 3: California Skater Inspiration

[This Look: H&M cropped striped shirt, Forever 21 overall dress, High top Vans]

# 4: Fancy Farmers Market Inspiration

[This Look: Thrifted military jacket & patterned Skort, American Apparel crop top, & Hunter boots]

I love going to the local farmer’s market with my mom and something I might love even more than the market itself is the people watching. I feel like you never know what to expect when you visit the farmer’s market, it puts me in such a good mood, so sometimes I want to dress up for it. Hence the inspiration for look number 4.

Which Warby would we pair with this look?

#5: Casual Going out Inspiration:

[This Look: H&M black basics dress, LL Bean shirt, White Converse]

# 6: Dark Stitched Jeans & Brocade Inspiration:

[This look: Thrifted: True Religion jeans, Asos Brocade & Leather jacket, Bionica boots from Sierra Trading post]

A spooky fashion shoot

Listening now…

I decided to have a little fun with my tripod (well I used my mom’s this time because it was already all set up and mine is a bit more difficult to set up) and take some fun fashion shots. The only other time I played around with a tripod was with my Mickey Mouse rules all post, but I think I need to make this a regular thing!

Lularoe Halloween leggings, Target thrifted sweater, H&M boots

These leggings have trick or treaters on them. How cute!

Do you like my teal pumpkin with polka dots that I painted? Also- there’s my skull pillow with the eye bitten off from Molly… #extraspooky #Keepinitreal #Realbloggersarecool

# 2:

Thrifted Forever 21 dress, Lularoe leggings, thrifted pleather red jacket, thrifted cow bag, thrifted Teva brand boots, floppy hat from my sister. 🙂

How awesome is this cow bag?! My mom said she had a similar one and I remember it from when I was a kid…

The bag also has a millon pockets and organization sections in it plus a Velcro closure…

# 3:

Thrifted dress, Lularoe leggings

Bottom photos- added an H&M sweater and my Carhartt beanie

I like the blue and yellow together. It feels retro to me…this dress is also a very flattering fit!

I also love the dress because it easily layers for fall and winter.

When you try to tripod and you cut off your head, but the pictures come out kind of artsy/blurry and you like it.

Aztec sweater from sissy, thrifted Zara brand jeans, 80’s belt “thrifted” from mom’s closet, cow bag, beanie, and boots on repeat.

Pumpkin: Thrifted, painted, polka dotted.

Posing with your pumpkin to end your photo shoot- priceless.

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! XOXO

Weekend roundup: October and apple picking

Listening now…

I first discovered this song in October of 2009 so it always makes me think of October. I saw Phantogram live in the beginning of this year and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!

Not only was it the weekend but it was the first day of October, the best month ever!

We were lucky enough to go back to Greig Farm in Red Hook like last October, but this time to apple pick!

We are always this happy with food coming!

Brisket sandwich and deviled eggs with hot apple cider.

Of course it pays off to have a very supportive #bloggerboyfriend who is always willing to take photos of you for your blog.

I was wearing my new Lularoe maxi skirt today that actually has palm trees on it, but the colors are very fall and the pattern from afar looks like leaves. I was wearing this with a striped shirt, and my Mickey Mouse beanie I blogged about here.

I look like a baby in these photos (maybe it’s the braids and Mickey Mouse, haha?!) but I will forever be thankful for my baby face as it keeps me forever young.

How was your first day of October?

Fall Fashion Inspiration

Listening now….

It’s time for another Fall Fashion Inspiration post!

How is it time already?!

But alas….fall fashion is simply my favorite.

My fall fashion inspiration post from last year seemed to be really popular! Sadly, I still never found my perfect trench coat. (Or any trench coat, sad face….) So that’s still a goal this year.

I have been thrifting a bit and plan on doing thrift haul and outfits from thrifting posts as soon as I get a big enough stash going! It is also time to go through my clothes again and start my Poshmark account. (I have been selling on Ebay on and off for years but my sis tells me this site is way better!)

Fall Fashion Inspiration

Sarah Paulson’s look in Blue Jay. Long dress, blazer, and beanie.

First off, if you have not seen Blue Jay yet- go watch it. It’s on Netflix and has become one of my favorite movies ever. I am a sucker for sad under rated Indie movies and this is definitely one. And I’ve been obsessed with Sarah Paulson ever since American Horror Story and my obsession only grew after watching her star in this role. And her outfit throughout the whole thing! Oh my God, her outfit. I need to recreate it this fall but I am not sure anyone could wear it like she does. When I do I will be sure to blog about it!

It was hard to find a full length photo, but it is basically a long floral dress with a long blazer (rolled at end with white underneath), and a winter hat. I think you could supplement the winter hat for any fall beanie and it would work. The outfit seems simple enough, yet something I never thought of wearing together.

Brocade, Embroidery, and Retro colors.

I recently saw these boots at Target and did not know it was called Brocade at the time. Then I saw another blogger talking about it and realized I really wish I bought these boots! Lol.

Angela Chase inspired.

Was anyone else as obsessed with My So Called Life as my sister and I were?!? Not only with the show, but with Angela as a person and her style.

T shirt under dress. Plaid. Flannels every day. Doc Martens and Timberlands. Angela Chase’s style is definitely coming back…

Velvet under plaid? Genius.

Outfit for a fall date night

Listening now…

Friday night we went out for a date night and I felt like dressing up!

Fall is my favorite season to dress for. I love transitioning dresses to wear with tights.

But recently I purchased my first few pairs of Lularoe leggings…

And I have been obsessed.

Currently in July

Listening now…

This song has been stuck in my head lately. The beginning is sad but it gets happier… I think it’s good that songs like this are raising mental health awareness. I encourage you to give it a listen! That number the song is named after is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number. I have never struggled with this personally but truly feel for those who do. This is for a friend who reached out to me last week who was struggling…

It has been awhile since I have done a “Currently” post- since March, to be exact! Looking at those snow pictures is crazy because it does not feel that long ago at all that that was outside! This year is flying by. How is it July already?!?

I loved posting about my Greece trip, and I still may do one part, but I was too excited to get back to my normal blogging routine.

Currently celebrating…

A double rainbow after a beautiful summer thunderstorm…

Summer time (my favorite time ever) is in full swing and I am just celebrating sunshine and swimming as much as I can.

How was your July 4th?

Mine was filled with a puppy, ice cream, and swimming at a water park!

puppy 2puppy 3puppy 1

This is my cousin’s new puppy Lucky, who is a Scottie poo. I love himmmmm! We went out for ice cream and he was pretty excited.

We had a bit of an early July 4th celebration with the family and mom brought out this amazing surprise.

Has anyone else ever had the Friendly’s watermelon cake? It’s lemon and watermelon sherbert with chocolate chip “seeds.”

It’s the

watermelon cake.jpg

While writing this post I actually remembered we had leftovers in the fridge so I had some more…

July 4th week was not a good eating week for me at all, lol! But I did go to my spin class.

I have still been keeping up with my regular gym routine every week and spin class has been the most beneficial exercise for me that I have ever tried in terms of seeing results! I spin and then I go in the sauna and it is very therapeutic. Often I regret my decision to go within 5 minutes of class when I feel like dying, but I never once regret actually going once it’s done.

Currently doing…

On my days off, we have been hanging out at our favorite lake.

lake 1lake 2lake 3

There needs to be way more days like this….not working but swimming and laying in the sunshine! =D

This summer I definitely plan on exploring new swim areas though and have a few on my list.

The other thing I have been busy “doing” is working my new reception job at the animal hospital. I took this job to figure out if I wanted to go back to school for Vet Tech, which I had previously started. I really like the job itself and enjoy being around all of the puppers and doggos, but ultimately don’t think I want to be a Vet Tech.

I’m trying to focus on what I enjoy doing and am good at, which is blogging. I would love to do something creative, like this, that also integrates creativity for a cause- like working with animal organizations. I still have a passion for nonprofits (my other job) and I am going to take some Communications and Media classes this fall so that will be fun!

Currently loving…

I decided to stop into Burlington Coat Factory the other day on a whim.

I am so glad I did! I found these super cute “Bobs for Dogs” by Sketchers brand shoes.

Every pair you buy goes to benefit the Best Friends Animal Society. They have a ton of cute designs on their site and now I want more of them!

They are also insanely comfortable with memory foam.

Another thing I am loving lately is this bathing suit that I got at Marshalls. I love the cut out side trend in one pieces right now and it is really flattering!

I hope you are all having a fabulous July and summer!

Thanks for reading!  XOXO
