Spring fashion inspiration

Listening now….

spring in the air.jpg

I don’t know what it was about my fall fashion inspiration post but it got 82 likes and people still somehow find it!

I also did a spring inspired fashion wish list post last year and some of the items I never managed to score, like the trench coat and the jumpsuit, so they may have to be added onto my spring wish list this year too.

So here’s a Spring fashion inspiration as I sit here on this Sunday looking out at the gloomy weather and wishing I was on a beach somewhere. Oh and waiting for Superbowl snacks….don’t care about football, but I do care about food. Daydreaming about food, beaches, and spring fashion, currently…

Once again, I look to Alexa Chung, the fashion queen, for inspiration. She can basically do no wrong.

November gratitude: week 3

Listening now….

I am grateful for songs like this that bring tears to my eyes and have so much meaning of gratitude in them.

“I don’t care if the house is packed
Or the strings of light are broken
I don’t care if the gifts are wrapped
Or there’s nothing here to open
Love is not a toy, and no paper will conceal it
Love is simply joy that I’m home
I don’t care if the carpet’s stained we’ve got food upon our table
I don’t care if it’s gonna rain, our little room is warm and stable
Love is who we are, and no season can contain it
Love would never fall for that”

We usually don’t listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving, but this year I caved!

Monday has come again and I  enjoyed a Sunday night snuggled up with a glass of wine and my computer on my lap to blog our 3rd week of November gratitude!I sat in the cozy living room with mama watching the Christmas lights around me twinkle and smelling the pine scented candles mom had lit. Tidings of comfort and joy… Puppies snoring behind me, too. I enjoyed every bit our last moment of peace and serenity before another busy week…

Week 3 gratitude:

angel I am grateful for the change of the seasons and the opportunity to embrace all that they have to offer. This weekend, that meant a holiday farmer’s market (in 65 degrees and sunny) and decorating for the holiday.

Just kidding, it’s about being thankful…

And eating.Lots of eating!

These were so delicious…I may have already finished this entire packet.

angelI am grateful for the ability to express myself through my sense of style and through blogging.

And for a patient mama who can take pictures of me for my blog. Good thing she’s a blogger too so she gets it!

Here’s what I wore to the Holiday market! #OOTD

I am like a walking ad for H&M. The pants, shirt, and duster are all from there!

(Not planned)

I wanted these shoes all summer. I finally found them for $7 on sale at Target at the end of the season!

A not so typical 65 and sunny day in late November on the mountain top…

Someone else wanted to pose too….

angelI am grateful for our first big snowfall, my cozy home, and family traditions for Christmas.

(By the way- this was Saturday night into Sunday- right after our 65 and sunny day!)

We decorated on Saturday with the warm weather and felt lucky to wake up to snow and be able to enjoy our Christmas decorations with the snow falling outside.

Mental health monthly faves: October

It’s been awhile since I have done a mental health monthly favorites post!

These are the things that help me maintain mental sanity in that particular month.

Although I love the month of October, it gets dark by 6:30 pm now and it snowed twice already here on the mountain top. Within a week.

IMG_1469.JPGsnow.jpg

With this change of seasons comes even more of a need for life’s little comforts…

October mental health monthly faves:

Outfits that make me feel good:

I feel prettiest lately in my dresses with tights and boots. My 2 favorites right now are my new plaid dress and these orange sparkly tights from H&M.

This is one of those outfits that after the fact I realized-I really wish I staged a whole fashion shoot with! But instead, you have me posing for Frankie as he takes pictures of me in his room. (please excuse the garbage can, lol)

Some day I will stage another actual fashion photo post. Like real bloggers do. Hehe.

HMB pic.jpg

other outfit.JPG

Another well planned out fashion photo for the blog. Lol. This sweater was thrifted as well but is from Target!

Thrifting and thrift hauls:

Let’s be real….shopping makes you feel good. There’s something about the thrill of finding those perfect items unexpectedly while out thrifting!

Last weekend I went Halloween costume searching at goodwill and salvation army and was not sure what to be when I arrived. When I left, I left with a pair of moon boots, which I knew would work perfectly for this weekend’s space themed party.

Not only that, but I came across these wonders.

The dress is the one I am wearing above and it’s now one of my favorite dresses. The bag is a Dooney and Bourke, which I got for $15 and it goes for $60 or more on ebay. The shoes are Bass duck boots, which I found online for and can retail for $100 or more depending on the site.

thrift 1.jpgbass shoes.jpgbag pic.jpg

moon-boot

The crazy moon boots that I won’t wear ever again…but they will be great for my costume!

Sims:

I have been playing sims since I was 7 years old. I have played ever since, on and off, in binges- I will play it obsessively (when I have time) for hours, months, then put it down for 6 months and pick it back up again.

When the days start to get dark earlier and many people can be found curled up with a good book, you can find me curled up with a good sims session or another game.

My obsession with Shameless went a little farther this time when I went and created a whole Shameless Gallagher family and re-created their entire house, as best as I could. I think the kitchen came out the best!

sims-1sims-pic

fiona.png

My next plan is to make Patsy’s pies diner where Fiona works since I have Sims Dine out expansion pack. And I’m basically going to have Frank come in and out and wreck havoc on their lives every now and then.

And you know I plan on getting Sims 4 city living when it comes out November 1st! Then the Gallaghers will move to their real hometown of Chicago.

I am pretty excited about the new social media and food critic job as well as festivals in the city and other city aspects like high rise apartments!

Exercise and keeping busy:

I think I am the kind of person who needs to be busy most of the time, but also make time to relax in between.

I have been trying to keep my gym routine from getting boring by trying new classes- Piyo, spin, and zumba. Now Zumba and cycle have become part of my regular routine!

It’s also been a good way to see my friends, who are just as busy, and we can do classes together.

Exercise is amazing for your mental health and I can’t imagine having a week without it! This week I missed my spin class because I had to stack wood and yesterday it snowed so I missed working out, but still shoveled snow, and I feel it in my arms today! I think it’s all about balance.

This is good for everyone’s mental health:

Two of my favorite things in 1 glorious video….Stranger Things and Peanuts. I just watched the great pumpkin last night with mama!

It’s a bit early to start thinking about Christmas, I know, but honestly with all the snow we got, it doesn’t seem that weird to me right now…

Here’s the article where I originally found the video.

Thanks, Hellogiggles.

What are some things that helped you this month?

Currently in October

Listening now…

Happy weekend!

(I really did want to bake some yummy fall treats this weekend…)

Last month I did a Currently in September post  and am going to attempt to do these once a month!

So here it is, our currents for my favorite month ever.

Currently in October

Me, currently…

ghost

This has been me all month and will continue to be me throughout October…

leaf.jpg

Current foliage…

Looking around outside my house right now catches my breath.

Driving around my little mountain town, I feel distracted, and can’t think of where to look first.

dress
Currently wearing…

My Hunter boots and my fringe jacket. A lot.

The jacket was on sale from Forever 21 for $20, the dress is from goodwill. I am excited to wear my Hunter boots with a variation of a million different styles of long thick socks. And leggings!

outfit-hunters

Fox and squirrel leggings. And leggings, in general.

I wish I could remember who blogged about these leggings I read about months ago, then obsessed over, and searched my local Walmarts for. I have the best boyfriend ever, who searched all over Walmart until he found them for me.

They have foxes and squirrels on them, so of course I needed them!

They also say they are “sueded” leggings , they have this buttery feeling to them.

Currently watching…

Definitely still watching American Horror story! So far, it’s not my favorite season at all. But it is getting better each episode!

But currently in October, I’ve been watching…

Vlogtober on youtube.

Vlogtober is when you tubers post a Vlog every day in October.

I mentioned Vlogtober last year in this post. and this Mental health monthly faves post.

Here are my favorite Vlogtobers who I have been watching for a few years now!

Sarah Hawkinson:

Sarah is a favorite you tuber of mine in general because she loves Halloween just like me, she’s an introvert also like me,  and I love her style and watching her thrifting trips. She is also the reason I started shopping obsessively at Michaels for Halloween stuff, all year round.

Samantha Maria:

Currently listening to…

I have been enjoying this Autumn Leaves playlist made by Spotify.

Here’s my October playlist, which I’ll be adding to a lot.

I haven’t been very good lately about finding new music, though. Anyone want to share any I would so appreciate it!

I just found the song above too, Sunset lover by Petit biscuit, if you want to give that a listen.

jacko.png

Currently celebrating…

Coziness, warmth, and Halloween!

Every week Frankie and I celebrate a spooky night, where we light all of the fall candles, drink fall brews, and watch a scary movie. In a dimly lit and spookified room like this.

(Actually my room looks like this all year long.)

spooky night.jpg

Hanging skulls and tree branch lights in a  wine bottle, and pumpkin candles, oh my!

martini emoji.png

Currently drinking…

Well, not right now, since it’s 11:30 am on a Saturday.

Fall cocktails. Fall pumpkin beers and ciders.

The drinks to the right were Apple Jack and my friend’s Pumpkin pie martini, which was my favorite. Yummmm.

Currently excited and thinking about…

Excited….Well guys, I landed my first sponsored post, where they are sending me $75 worth of Halloween goodies, all picked out by me, to blog about! I feel so blessed and I can’t wait to share with everyone. The fact that I got to hand pick all of the items made me feel great because I know that everything I am blogging about are products  I would obviously buy for myself!

Thinking about…And I am attending a space-themed Halloween party the weekend before Halloween and cannot decide between being Mrs. Frizzle from the Magic school bus, Buzz Light year, or Marvin the martian.  I will be making my costume and might buy a few little things for it if needed.

What do you guys think?! Help!

What are you doing this October? jacko

Weekend roundup; weekly planning

Hope you had a glorious weekend!

It’s been awhile since I have done a weekend roundup and weekly planning post. This is because to be honest, I’ve been slacking completely with my Happy planner.

Now that fall is coming, I felt the urge to pick it back up again and begin my fall planner layouts. So excited!

So, Last post I talked about how I was going to Coney Island for my friend’s 25th birthday.

Unfortunately, I did not feel safe bringing my new camera with me so all of these pictures were taken on my iphone. It still amazes me how great that camera is, though!

We went down on Saturday, which involved a lot of traveling, walking, and Pokemon hunting.

Did you know that Pokemon ride the subway, too?

pokemon on train.pngcollage.jpgburger.jpg

We got to Coney right when the sun was setting, which was beautiful.

Here I am posing with my one true love, ice cream.

P.S.- As a blogger, I kind of suck at getting pictures of my outfit when I am out and about. But this is a cute black 80’s style overall dress I just got from Forever 21, an Aztec patterned crop top from H&M, Converse, and a Vera Bradley crossbody. [Necessary for the subway and traveling to keep your stuff safe.]

ice fcream.jpgconey.jpg

That night…

Later on, we hit the town in Brooklyn. But first came getting all dolled up together!

I wore my new pleather dress from Forever 21, choker from Express, faux suede fringe heels from TJ Maxx [I believe they are Laundry brand- and you can’t tell they are fringey in the picture, wahh], and a blue bag from H & M to give it a pop of color. I crimped my hair to add to the 90’s look and added some winged eyeliner and lipstick.

girls.jpg

We ended up meeting up with a longtime friend who we haven’t seen in awhile, who lives in Brooklyn. He knows his way around, so we ended up at Union Pool bar, which was pretty much the perfect place.

We stayed there all night because it had an indoor bar, outdoor bar and lounging areas, and a separate club section with a DJ who played pretty much all the perfect dance songs.

The atmosphere was so relaxing…

bats.jpg

Halloween accents too, yup- my perfect bar.

girls 2.jpg

A great time was had by all-but as my mama says, it’s good to go away and it’s even better to come home. Can you see where I get my introverted and homebody tendencies from? : )

Weekly planning

Now that the weekend has come to an end [cue tears here] it’s time to get back to planning.

So today, I headed over to my favorite place on earth, Michael’s.

michaels haul.jpg1.jpg23.jpg4.jpg5.jpg

I thought the leaves washi tape was fall themed, and couldn’t resist using some of my Halloween stickers already, since we’re going to Oktoberfest this weekend! Remember my Oktoberfest post last year?

I am so excited! And I’m bringing my camera, so I’ll be sure to blog about it.

What did you do this weekend?!  Any week plans?

Fall fashion inspiration

Listening now…

September is upon us!

Ahhhhhhh…..fall.

My favorite season of the year and so many good feelings are associated with it.

The mornings are chilly, it’s time to start thinking about Halloween and throwing another Halloween party this year,  and what am I going to dress up as?!

Actually, truthfully, I think about Halloween all year long.

I am so very happy we are transitioning into fall fashion. By the beginning of July, I get tired of alternating my skirts and dresses every day for work.

At least when that happens in fall, throw a new pair of tights on, a different jacket, and voila. There are so many fashion options in the season of fall!

I found some outfits to inspire me and maybe they will inspire you too…!

Over the knee boots, suede, lace ups, pom pom hats.

Black jeans and converse.

fall 2

Rolled up jeans, trench coat, statement flats.

Burgundy, leather, tights.

[I really want a pair of Hunters.]

Pairs great with leggings, jeans, or a dress like this and high socks.

As per usual, Alexa Chung does fall perfectly.

What looks are your favorite for fall?

Outfit of the day: Flamingo dress!

Listening now…

I had to share this little Flamingo dress I scored from one of my Goodwill thrifting hauls.

Today is the first day I am wearing it since purchasing and I couldn’t be happier!

The brand is Roxy– I purchased the dress for about $6 at Goodwill and it seems to be about a $50 value. I found the dress online here.

It is a silky like fabric, making it really comfortable and flowy. You can’t tell in the pictures, but the back is open and the neckline is plunging- it will look great with a bandeau underneath and I will definitely be wearing it like that this summer-but today I wore it for work, so obviously had to wear a tank underneath.

dress 1.jpg

I paired it with my Vans- [I recently talked about my love for them here]

dress 2.jpg

Another thing I love about this dress is that it gets longer in the back- adding a little bit more character, as well as modesty.

dress4

I never knew how many things you could do with Picmonkey!

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Spring and Summer wish list

Listening now…

Awhile back, on a dreary winter day, I was dreaming of spring….

And now it seems it is here to stay, it’s almost May, and I could not be happier.

I was an August baby, so I think my heart loves and belongs in the sunshine.

I wanted to update the Spring wish list I made a little while back. As I go, I will check items off and make an updated post when I acquire some of these items and will post photos of a haul. After all, I love me some hauls.

I have already started my Spring shopping and purchased a few items like striped jeans, cardigans, and boy short bikini bottoms-which I have been wanting for a few summers!

But I keep thinking of or seeing more and more things I have to have…

Here is my updated Spring and Summer wishlist:

   Shoes of all kinds…

I am a fan of sneakers right now. Been wearing my low top white converse a lot, my Vans, and Keds.

Hence, I would like some more…

Sneakers:

Espadrilles:

TUKS:

I feel like you either love or hate these shoes. I love them and have been lusting over them for awhile now. I have been loving the 90’s style lately and these platform shoes are no exception. Yeah….I need them…

 Matching sets:

Yes please.

Chokers:

I couldn’t be more happy that these came back into style. I have enjoyed layering necklaces with a choker lately.

I love the versatility of them!

T Shirt Dress:

Tropical prints:

Summer floats:

….But do you see these!

I spend almost every day at the lake during the summer. It’s my second home, I bring my pup, throw her ball so she can swim, and bask in the sun while reading a book and listening to whatever lake playlist I have at the time.

I spent last summer lusting after Taylor’s magical swan float. Not again this year, guys!

What are you lusting after this spring and summer?

Favorite fashion of Downton Abbey

Listening now…

I’ve talked about my love for Downton Abbey before, but not so much my love for Downton fashion. In addition to the addicting binge worthy drama of the show, the complicated relationships, and the interest in an older era- the fashion of the show is extremely well done, too.

I have reached the final season of the show [cries], I am not going to know what to do with myself when it’s over….however, I have been neglecting Shameless, so I am excited to get back to that once I have finished Downton.

I have enjoyed waiting to see what the cast will wear next. It is also fun to see the change in their styles over the seasons- going from much more traditional to the flapper style in the 20’s.

Lady Mary Crawley

My favorite has to be Lady Mary Crawley’s wardrobe. She wears a lot of beads, lace, hats, hair brooches, and long gloves.

mary with choker.jpg

I especially loved Lady Mary’s  choker here along with her black embroidered lace dress…..

She wears the flapper-esque style later on in the seasons stunningly, too.

The bottom one here is one of my favorite’s from the 20’s era of the show on her- look at all of that gold!

But don’t be fooled, Lady Mary does not only sit down for lovely fancy dinners and sit drinks- she is a rider, too.

And her riding outfits are equally as charming and unique.

Lady Mary definitely takes the prize for best dressed Crawley.

mary gif.gif

Lady Edith Crawley

If you watch the show [which I highly recommend you do and after this post you might really want to] then you know that Lady Mary and Lady Edith don’t exactly get along, even though they are sisters.

They are very different- and you can see that in their fashion as well.

Lady Edith is much more liberal and less traditional than Mary and seemed to fall into the flapper-esque style quicker than she did.

However, she is my second favorite fashionista. And I embrace their differences.

edith velvet.jpg

Velvet, anyone? Via:

I love everything in this picture on her- the coat, hat, and boots:

This may have been an Edith favorite of mine.

edith gif.gif

       Lady Cora Crawley

As mother of Edith and Mary and countess of Downton Abbey, Cora’s style is a bit older and more sophisticated.

All the less, I still adore it.

These last two are Cora favorites of mine. That medieval styled dress and this jacket are just beautiful.

cora gif.gif

I suppose if we all had our own lady’s maids to dress us each morning and night, we would look this stunning all day too!

What were your favorite looks?

And if you have not yet watched, get going, so we can chat about it!

A visit to the lighthouse

Listening now…

80 degrees in March today. In upstate NY.  And I couldn’t have been happier!

Last night and today I heard and saw geese flying North. Was sitting on the porch with mama the other night on our swing-it’s here!

We took a visit to the lighthouse after work

I took a lot of pictures!

03094068.JPG03094092.jpgI had my handsome man along with me, who loved being photographed every step along the way. [sarcasm.]

Of course, it was handy to have him there as my photographer, too. I was so happy it was unusually warm out that I got to wear the dress I got in my last thrift haul!
