Thank you all so much for reaching 800 followers on here! To celebrate and thank you, here are some quotes…

Having people read my Blog and relate to it has helped me to find a purpose.

My blog (and my blog readers)- you are my reprieve from this crazy world we live in. And an outlet to get it all out there!

2016 triumphs; 2017 goals

Listening now…

I hope you all had a safe and happy New Years filled with those you love and plenty of goals you promise to keep.  ; )

We started off the holiday with some snow tubing with Frankie’s family and later on that night a lovely evening of a double date complete with snow, pecan pie, and champagne at midnight…

tubing.jpgnye-1desertdeer mtn.jpg

nye-babe

I broke out sparkly orange tights for NYE because you can never be sparkly or glittery enough on this night!

So while I think it’s important to create new resolutions or goals for the new year, I almost think it is even more important to ourselves to realize our triumphs of the year behind us.

We are notoriously hard on ourselves as a society and it’s really sad.

We have to acknowledge our triumphs and I wanted to share with you my 2016 triumphs so maybe you will be inspired to pat yourself on the back, too!

2016 triumphs:

Being healthy!

yoga.jpg

I have successfully kept my promise to myself and have gone to the gym consistently for about a year and a half along with yoga once a week, but only recently have actually started seeing real results! I’m really proud of myself for this, for eating healthy, and for trying new classes like piyo and spin. Spin is what I have actually seen results from and have kept up with for quite a few months now- I especially like it because it’s an intense cardio workout that you can sit down the whole time if you wish, LOL. About 5 minutes into the class I am regretting my decision to sign up and dreaming of my wine and the couch, but I push through!

spin gif 2.gif

Keeping up with this blog.

This past August was my 1 year blogiversary and the victory of also actually keeping up with something consistently! I get distracted a lot and tend to want to try so many things, that often they fall to the wayside. But this blog has become a lot more to me than I imagined and inspired me to be more positive, do more, etc! It has become a journal for me, even writing about my triumphs right now is giving me perspective for all that I have done this past year- let’s face it, writing things down and seeing it in front of you makes it real. And is really therapeutic!

 My first sponsored blog post!

I basically love Oriental Trading and they gave me my first sponsored post-on one of my favorite things ever, Halloween decor.

They even sent me a Christmas card thanking me for being a brand ambassador and saying they enjoyed working with me- simply a pleasure to work with and I feel honored! It also inspired me to reach out to more brands in the future.

Making steps towards my dreams.

I continued volunteering for the SPCA, (although in 2017 I want to walk way more doggies) explored schooling, and completed an internship at the animal sanctuary of my dreams. I really really want to work in the animal welfare field and a sanctuary would be perfect. I explored and took classes in the Vet Tech program, went back and forth and still do, but I think I want to focus on the animal welfare and nonprofit side of things. I also realized I think I want a job where I can be a bit creative. I currently work for a nonprofit and it is so flexible, rewarding, and I have never been treated better in a job before. Right now I am exploring a graduate non profit administration program and will probably try a class to see if I like it…. to be continued! I know what I want, the getting there is a bit confusing…but all in all, proud of myself for making the steps.

Remember my 17 quotes for 2017 post? Well, I am tired….but this quote holds so much truth. Remember to rest.

rest.jpg

Without goals, we would not have triumphs? Am I right? Alas…. goals for 2017.

2017 goals:

Be more consistent with my blog…

While it’s great that I have kept up with my blog so well (triumph!), my consistency is lacking. I am not going to lie, the holidays had me slacking quite a bit, but there were times when I was in school and I will be in school again this coming semester, and it’s all about balance, right? I want to always improve my ability to balance everything and in turn, better this blog.

The thing is, I know this blog could be more amazing if I kept up on it and did more bloggy outreach kind of things. This is a goal! I want to maintain my blog connections better and keep up on everyone else’s blogging life, as well. Bloggers write about their lives but cannot be self absorbed to succeed in this world of blog…isn’t it ironic?

Continue trying new things…

This year I really was proud of myself for getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things- 2017 has goals for me to try silks, pole dancing classes, and hip hop classes. To name a few!  Along with this, I want to hike more unknown terrain, literally. Last summer any time off I spent at the lake, my favorite place in the world. But because of this, I also didn’t venture out as much to new areas to explore…this spring/summer I want to find new places to explore!

hike.jpg

Save, save, save…

save money.jpg

This goal is kind of 4 goals wrapped in 1-

This year I really want to travel, move out on my own, and take classes for school… These things require a lot of money! So it’s time to save.

If I take a graduate class it is over 1k plus books. It’s insane. Thank God for payment plans is all I can say…

I am really good at selling things I no longer wear on Ebay. I fell off of it for a bit but I think it is time to jump back on that! You can make such good money while clearing out your clutter  and if you have enough of an Ebay following and good rating, people trust to buy from you and are more likely to do so. And now that I have my Canon Rebel, it’s easier to take good shots.

Be happy, healthy, and more present.

More meditation, more tea, less anxiety. Please, 2017?

I have some smaller goals too like read more books and to learn the ukelele (finally) but I’m trying to focus on the big picture here….

Christmas has come and gone…

Listening now…    music-notes

I hope you all had a good holiday!

How has Christmas come and gone already?

I wanted to share a bit of my festivities with you all since it is my favorite time of the year.

On Christmas Eve, we traveled down to my love’s side of the family in Long Island.

I had so much fun embracing the differences of celebrations between our families and playing with all of the little babes!

The coolest was when Santa showed up on Christmas Eve! They have a friend that does this every year for them and even buys her a bunch of gifts….so cool.  #greatguy #santa

On Christmas day…..we got just a tad excited….

Can you spot the toys Santa brought the pups? #moo #oink

I was actually crafty this year with mama’s gift and made this chalkboard wine bottle that says “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas but if the white runs out, I’ll drink the red!”

I am very proud of it =D

2 of my personal favorite gifts from santa this year include these lace up over the knee boots and this shirt I am wearing in this picture that could not be more perfect.

The skirt was from Santa too and I love it so much! The shirt says, “I just want to drink wine save animals and take naps.” TRUTH.

On top of the amazing Christmas festivities, me and the babies got some quality time together….

This quote.

It’s just so relate-able in every way and so important to remember that everyone’s path is different and we should remember that. And not compare ourselves. I am convinced that comparison is the root of all evil and the demise to our own happiness….

We all do it…but we have to stop.

As much as I love the holidays, the new year gives me a bit of anxiety (and excitement, too!) about all of the things I have not yet done…this quote came to me at a good time!

quote.jpg

Also I am currently loving celebrating everything to do with Christmas. Obviously!

I have been blessed to be able to see a Christmas Story the musical with my mom and sis followed by a lovely dinner, attend a cookie swap holiday party, a beautiful and festive winter walk, and a holiday farm and flea. And it’s not even Christmas yet!

Christmas comes but once a year, so time to soak up the season. Although it flies by, I really try to get as much out of it as possible!

Cue the Christmas celebrations…

This article about how to stop being afraid of everything

This article needs to be printed out and hung over my bed and/or by my mirror so I can read it and recite it to myself each and every day. I promise you will not regret this read and if you are like me, it will definitely bring you more awareness about yourself and things you know you have needed to change for awhile. And hopefully, the courage to do so.

I have also found a book that I am hooked on and cannot put down, which has not happened to me in a long time! I may actually finish a book before the new year, when I will most likely make another resolution to finish a certain amount of books that year. Lolz.

Anyway, it’s called Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris-

book.jpg

Here is the bio, taken from Good reads website:

“Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace: he has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You’d like to get to know Grace better. But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are never apart. Some might call this true love.

Picture this: a dinner party at their perfect home, the conversation and wine flowing. They appear to be in their element while entertaining. And Grace’s friends are eager to reciprocate with lunch the following week. Grace wants to go, but knows she never will. Her friends call—so why doesn’t Grace ever answer the phone? And how can she cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim?

And why are there bars on one of the bedroom windows?

The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie”

After mama and I finished The Crown on Netflix, (SO GOOD) I was not quite sure what to do with my life.

However, I am still watching the new season of Shameless and I am a few episodes behind right now.

A new show I have picked up is West World.

Omg. West World.

The bio, taken from HBO’s website, says:

“The one-hour drama series Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.

Basically, there is a western theme park called Westworld and there are “hosts” that live there, which are artificially created to appear very human-like and cater to the very high paying visitors that come to the park. These hosts are meant to have certain lines like actors, not deviate from their “norm” and appear to have it all together for the guests… but as we know in shows, things don’t always go as planned or that would just be boring! The rest you will just have to watch for yourself…

I made this little playlist for you all of my favorite new tunes I have been listening to obsessively of as late. I will keep adding to this…

My favorites on here are Planez by Katelyn Tarver and Hidden Edelweiss by Spark Alaska.

Also, not listed here- but Single by The Neighbourhood and Someone that loves you by Honne are also some of my favorites lately…

What are you up to currently in December?

Christmas Haul

Listening now…

Christmas spirit is in full swing and I am feeling all of the warmth surrounding the season.

I was lucky enough to be gifted more decorations from Oriental trading.

I feel so honored and lucky- Christmas is my favorite time of the year!

This came at perfect timing because in my last gratitude post I talked about how we were ripping up our carpet and putting in wood floors. Having the new decorations with new floors gave me the chance to really start fresh and get rid of a bunch of junk I had been hoarding… actual clutter really does clutter your mind and it feels good to get rid of it.

The warm and cozy pillows, the lantern, and mr. reindeer here are all from Oriental Trading.

He is just chilling while he waits for Christmas. I have not decided on a name for him yet. Suggestions?

I really love how the lantern reflects the trees onto the wall behind it…

Next to my bed we have the pinecone candle holder  which I love and will probably keep up all year long because it just has such a cozy feel!

pinecone.jpgpinecone 2.jpg

I got to have my own little tree in my room this year!

Complete with my own awkward school picture ornament 🙂

And complete with these dove and glittery icicle ornaments Oriental sent me!

I love how the light shines off of the icicles, so cozy.

Halloween spooky haul!

Listening now…

(….This song is so weird, yet totally perfect. Listen while you view…)

Via:

Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your spooky Octobers full of bright colors and dreams of goblins, ghosts, oh my….

My lack of posting this week is about to be justified because I have a fun post for you all!

I was honored enough to be able to work with Oriental Trading and at the same time, upgrade my Halloween collection. They sent me products to review, but being a huge Halloween lover, of course I was so excited!I got to pick out all of my own items- so they are all items I would honestly buy myself anyway.

Upon viewing their site to decide what goodies I wanted, I was so excited, like a kid in a Halloween store. After all, they have SO much Halloween stuff on their site- (Oriental Trading Halloween)

Since I love Halloween so much, I picked items that I thought I would use all year round, too.  (Because that’s totally normal to keep spooky things around all year, right?)’

Halloween lampshade topper:

The first item I wanted to feature was this Halloween lampshade topper, which is my favorite item that arrived.

lamp-with-skulllamp up close cropped.jpg

It has a feature on top that allows you to make it tighter or looser and is easily hideable, which I thought was really handy. The features are beautiful up close, too! Something about this topper just reminds me of the Adams family….and I would definitely keep this up all year long in my room.

Skeleton hand glasses:

The next item I was gifted with were the Skeleton hand glasses.  They come in a dozen and I could hardly contain myself.

Here they are pictured with apple cider(mmmmm), but feel free to add any bubbly cauldron-like Halloween cocktail to the glasses, I feel like they are just made for that!

I cannot wait to break these out at my next Halloween party. Or, any random weekday wine night by myself…just kidding, kind of.

Zipper mouth character pillows:

The Zipper mouth characters pillows made a nice addition to our white couch.  I just think they are so cute and they go perfectly with my Stranger Things pillows.(from Redbubble, if you are interested) Anyone else obsessed with Stranger things?!! I cannot wait until the new season… and I just found out Eleven and some of the crew were at NYC Com icon and I wish I had known!

pillows brighter.jpg

stranger things.jpg

They can’t believe how cute the pillows are, either.

Round spider web table topper:

The Round Spider web table topper is a great addition to any table. Here, I have it on my square nightstand and even that worked perfectly. Don’t forget your other Halloween/fall accents, though!

spider web table side.jpgspider-web-tablespider-web

Black Widow Halloween costume:

Aside from Halloween decorations, do you even know how many Halloween costumes Oriental trading has?!

This was an unexpected surprise, they sent me a Halloween costume that I didn’t even ask for! It was the Black Widow from Captain America 🙂

Sissy got lucky, as she had a Halloween costume party to go to and now has a costume and looks stunning in it!

And I got lucky to be able to work with such a generous company! Everything was shipped so quickly and the quality so far has been consistent with their online reviews.

Have you gotten any good Halloween hauls?

Thanks for reading 🙂

Labor day ; summer roundup

Listening now…

This holiday is bittersweet for me for sure… as it is for many.

The summer is coming to an end and I can’t even believe where the time went.

This summer was great and I feel so lucky.

I got to go on vacation to both Provincetown  and camping in Ocean city and Virginia Beach.

I got to celebrate big things like my 25th birthday, as well as little things like drives, flea markets and farmers markets.

Friday night started off with a pretty pink striped sky that was so beautiful I had to capture it. So amazing to have my very own camera now!

sunset-1sunset-2sunset 3.JPG

Saturday was a quick farmer’s market morning…

I did not take many pictures here because I was holding onto the pup and mama’s abundance of vegetables and baked goods. Worth it, though.

flea-marketflea-market-2

Sunday I took the pup for a mini hike down to the falls. We checked out both the overlook part and down by the falls!

Sun orbs and fishers….

On the way back from the falls, I stumbled across a new creek that I can’t believe I never discovered before! In this picture, you can spot a girl doing a yoga pose to your left.
[I love life’s little unplanned whims]

Of course someone had to chase her ball and swim! I’m so proud of the little babe for not being afraid to try swimming in new places.

creek 3.jpgcreek 4_1.jpg

On Monday,  I had a fun day planned at the fair with my friends and I got to meet another little friend before we left! Meet this little baby, Pokey.

He was shy at first, curled up in his ball and shaking. My friend says this is the norm, but I am so happy he finally came out of his little ball to say hi!

pokey.JPG

We left Pokey and headed over to the fair…

There is just something about the fair, isn’t there?

I go every summer and this year I was afraid I was going to miss it. I went to a different fair than I normally go to, but it’s good to try new things. It was way hotter than we thought and later we said that we wished we had thought to go at night, because fairs at night are even better! But we still had a blast.

My friend and I both love cemeteries and finding new ones. Seems strange to some, maybe? My grandma used to take me for walks in cemeteries when I was younger and I was always found them peaceful and enjoyed walking around and seeing the architecture as well as reading the stones…

So on the way home from the fair, we visited a cemetery. I especially love taking la-la drives now that I have my camera.

This one was so huge we only covered maybe half of it.

Saturday was a busy day! It was mama’s birthday and my friend Kaela’s 25th!

Mom just posted about her birthday here

I got her this grafted weeping pussy willow and she really loved it! She’s excited to plant this little baby in the ground and watch him grow.

Mama went off to dinner with her sweetie and I headed to Kaela’s 25th party…

Here’s the birthday girl in all her glory!

She’s a new blogger and an amazing writer- check her out here: Blog

A great time was had by all, much Bowie was played and Sangria was drank, and I felt honored to be a part of such a big day!

After this I went to an indoor circus event at a club that we had tickets for. I didn’t take any pictures of that because they did not allow photography-

Here is the flyer for the event though-

Clowns, dances, and fire, oh my! [ No animal circus, don’t worry!]

So I had a great weekend, I hope you all did too.

On Friday night, I had a therapy appointment after work and planned on staying in, watching Downton Abbey and blogging a bit.

But, I came home and my Sissy was getting ready with her friends to go to a house party with some people she met at the local restaurant she works at.

My sis is pretty good at dragging me out of the house. So on we went, and the house was beautiful. It was a ski rental- it was the first time I played flip cup!

Until she got too tired, that is….

The rest of the night was spent babysitting this little bear….

Sunday morning I went to my sister’s early yoga class. I felt great afterwards, it has been a long time since I have had a consistent practice, but I’m getting back into it!

The rest of the day was spent doing homework, chores, and preparing for Superbowl night- [I am not a football fan by any means, but was excited for the food and drink!]

And today,  I decided to take the day off and go skiing. It was a much needed escape from the usually Monday blues.
