A Spring Valentines Setting

Listening now…

I decided to do something a little different this year working with Oriental Trading, but still wanted to do a winter post.

February is tough for me- at least with January there is the hope of the new year and all of that. February is where winter gets mean and seems to torture you even worse. Spring can sometimes feel like months away but really it does fly by…

But at least there is Valentines day and celebrations of love.

Looking through Oriental Trading’s Marry Me collection, I got inspired to do a Valentines table setting and thought it would be fun!

I had such a good time putting this together and even added my Stranger Things cross stitch present from my friend Sam up on the wall. No romantic Valentines dinner is complete without Stranger Things, right?! Nothing is complete without Stranger Things.

As soon as I found these starfish and succulents, I knew I wanted to do a spring-themed Valentines table setting.

Something to brighten this dark and dull winter and bring life to the table.

I think this chalkboard may be sold out because I could not find it on the site, but they have many other chalkboards available.

My plan is to make a terrarium with the succulents so I will do an updated blog post on that once it happens…

As always,

Thanks so much for reading

Christmas Haul

Listening now…

Christmas spirit is in full swing and I am feeling all of the warmth surrounding the season.

I was lucky enough to be gifted more decorations from Oriental trading.

I feel so honored and lucky- Christmas is my favorite time of the year!

This came at perfect timing because in my last gratitude post I talked about how we were ripping up our carpet and putting in wood floors. Having the new decorations with new floors gave me the chance to really start fresh and get rid of a bunch of junk I had been hoarding… actual clutter really does clutter your mind and it feels good to get rid of it.

The warm and cozy pillows, the lantern, and mr. reindeer here are all from Oriental Trading.

He is just chilling while he waits for Christmas. I have not decided on a name for him yet. Suggestions?

I really love how the lantern reflects the trees onto the wall behind it…

Next to my bed we have the pinecone candle holder  which I love and will probably keep up all year long because it just has such a cozy feel!

I got to have my own little tree in my room this year!

Complete with my own awkward school picture ornament 🙂

And complete with these dove and glittery icicle ornaments Oriental sent me!

I love how the light shines off of the icicles, so cozy.

And just a little more lights and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

It’s beginning to look a lot like a Stranger Things Christmas too! #lightsonlights

Monday gratitude

OK. I was kinda cranky this morning. Mondays have been harder for me as of late- have you ever been in a funk? I feel a little funky lately.

But I know things I also have not been doing that need to be done. To maintain my  sanity, my happiness, and my gratitude for the everyday little simple things. Which is why I started this little blog right here in the first place.

These things that have been lacking include: noticing my daily gratitude, stopping and listening to myself slowly and quietly, focusing on the present instead of the future.

So, speaking of gratitude and stopping and listening to yourself…

Today I am grateful for…

Yoga class tonight, taught by my sissy – as this post says, I need some clarity, time to breathe, and meditation in my life today.

Stranger Things on Netflix:

You have heard about it by now, right? If not- go watch! It is a binger, so prepare yourself to want to or actually watch all episodes in 1 night.

Modern Family.

Lately, if I do feel funky, I put on this show and it makes me laugh and brightens my day.

Thunderstorms. I love the heat- but it’s been very humid and hot and the earth needed some water. As did I- I got caught in it today and felt great!

Loving someone so much that you get sad leaving them after every time.

Sunday nights after a whole weekend spent together are especially hard, but also, I’m grateful to even have that.

What are you grateful for today?
