Weekend roundup: October and apple picking

Listening now…

I first discovered this song in October of 2009 so it always makes me think of October. I saw Phantogram live in the beginning of this year and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!

Not only was it the weekend but it was the first day of October, the best month ever!

We were lucky enough to go back to Greig Farm in Red Hook like last October, but this time to apple pick!

Of course it pays off to have a very supportive #bloggerboyfriend who is always willing to take photos of you for your blog.

I was wearing my new Lularoe maxi skirt today that actually has palm trees on it, but the colors are very fall and the pattern from afar looks like leaves. I was wearing this with a striped shirt, and my Mickey Mouse beanie I blogged about here.

I look like a baby in these photos (maybe it’s the braids and Mickey Mouse, haha?!) but I will forever be thankful for my baby face as it keeps me forever young.

How was your first day of October?

August Favorites

Listening now…

Glass Animals is in the soundtrack for Atypical a lot and I started to really love them!

But how the hell is it August already? P.S. as much as I love fall, I am not ready yet!

Atypical on Netflix:

Mama and I started watching Atypical on Netflix and loved it, we finished the season in a few days. There are not that many episodes, but they did leave the last one on a cliff hanger so I am thinking there is definitely going to be another season!

The show is about Sam, an Autistic teenager, and his family. Sam loves penguins and wants to fall in love. He is hilarious and the show does a really amazing job of making you feel his emotions and struggle to understand things that many of us take for granted. Things like being able to recognize other people’s emotions and how your words affect them. Things like being able to be in a room with loud music and lots of lights without having to run out covering your ears. Things like being able to form normal relationships. What is normal anyway, am I right?

I highly recommend this show to anyone! You will feel a lot when you watch it and you will laugh a lot, too.

Also, the soundtrack is really awesome too! See above  : )

Enjoying the last days of the summer…

While also getting excited for fall…

I’m not ready yet. I don’t know how or why the winter lasts so long, while summer flies by. It did feel like summer started a bit earlier for us, though, since we went to Greece in May. The weather over there felt like it was in the 80s because of the strong sun and having that trip of a life time made this summer one I will never forget.

At a certain point in August I am usually ready for fall. This year I am not there yet….but it’s okay. When I start to think about it we have a lot to look forward to! Like the new Stranger Things season and all the other wonderful aspects of fall. But that’s another post!

New games.

I don’t game a lot at all in the summer, I am outside enjoying the weather! Something I do enjoy about it getting colder is that you have more inside time to enjoy your inside hobbies. One of those for me is gaming! After all, that’s why I have a Gaming section on my blog.

August has brought a few really great changes to the gaming world! (At least for me, hehe)

August 31st I will be playing Life is Strange 2: Before the Storm.

strange.jpg

Life is Strange is the game( along with Gone Home)  that made me really love interactive story exploration type games. I can’t wait!

Yesterday, they finally released that Sims 4 Cats and Dogs is coming out in November! November 10th, to be exact. If you are a Sims fan, this has been a long time coming!

The thing I am most excited for is that you can open your own Veterinary clinic! I cannot wait.

My skin care routine.

Thanks mom for reminding me of how important it is to keep your skin healthy- I often get lazy and manage to skip washing my makeup off. Bad, I know!

But my mom got me this miracle Garnier cleansing water, which is so gentle and easy to wash it all off.

garnier.jpg

I love it! Along with these new BB creams she got me from Sephora, my skin has been looking and feeling nice lately.  I like BB cream because it has everything in 1- a little bit of color, makeup, and sunscreen. I started using it because my skin was too dry to wear makeup and it really helps. Each one has a different purpose for the skin and so far my favorite is the  “Complex pore care.”

How has your August been? Are you ready for fall?!

October is in the air!

Listening now…

It’s here! It’s here! My favorite month of the year.

In October we, along with the trees, start a new beginning and a new end. Things slow down, we get ready to settle into nighttime earlier, and we rest.

Did you know that when you see the brightest trees in the fall that that means they had a particularly harsh winter the year before? So the most beautifully colored trees have been through the hardest of times…. something to think about.

“October is about trees revealing colors they’ve hidden all year. People have Octobers as well.” -JM Storm

“I’m so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers.”- Anne of Green Gables

“Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter…”- Carol Bishop Hipps

“Listen!

The air is rising and the wind is wild with leaves,

we have had our summer evenings,

now for October Eves!” – Humbert Wolfe

Hope your October is all you ever imagined and more….. BOO!

Monday gratitude

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

I am sorry for the lack of updates this week, life has been busy, and we had some family things come up…

We had an unexpected grief in our family and had to pull together to get through it.

This changed our plans for our family visiting, but we were still able to spend time together and show them what the Catskills are like in the best time of the year, autumn.

It’s so important to remember your gratitude every day, but especially on Mondays.

Now that it’s getting colder, it is getting harder and harder to get out of my warm bed with my pup all snuggled behind my knees. But I have to remember that another weekend will come soon and I have to be thankful for the current moment.

Monday Gratitude:

Oktoberfest.

Last post, I mentioned my plans for this weekend were to go to Oktoberfest with my family and my cousins, who were visiting from Ireland.

It’s my favorite festival by far and it goes on for 4 wonderful weekends!

Changing leaves.

This time of year, when you look out into the mountains and some trees are changing and others are still green and some just have their tips super bright.

Coziness.

Saturday night my sister spiced up some hot apple cider and rum and we all went outside to enjoy some drinks by the fire….ahhhhh.

We also had a hilarious game of Cards against humanity that night.

What are you grateful for this Monday?

Fall fashion inspiration

Listening now…

September is upon us!

Ahhhhhhh…..fall.

My favorite season of the year and so many good feelings are associated with it.

The mornings are chilly, it’s time to start thinking about Halloween and throwing another Halloween party this year,  and what am I going to dress up as?!

Actually, truthfully, I think about Halloween all year long.

I am so very happy we are transitioning into fall fashion. By the beginning of July, I get tired of alternating my skirts and dresses every day for work.

At least when that happens in fall, throw a new pair of tights on, a different jacket, and voila. There are so many fashion options in the season of fall!

I found some outfits to inspire me and maybe they will inspire you too…!

Over the knee boots, suede, lace ups, pom pom hats.

Black jeans and converse.

Rolled up jeans, trench coat, statement flats.

Burgundy, leather, tights.

[I really want a pair of Hunters.]

Pairs great with leggings, jeans, or a dress like this and high socks.

As per usual, Alexa Chung does fall perfectly.

Speaking of wine, after this, we went to see a house since I have been house hunting. Found some yummy grapes next door!

But the house next door was also 1700s era and had some graves on the floor...we were not sure if maybe the owner made them or is these were remains from an actual cemetery....
